SIR ALEX FERGUSON has made an emotional vow to return to Old Trafford this season after battling back from the brain haemorrhag­e that threatened his life. Speaking publicly for the first time since he had emergency surgery in May, the 76-year-old former Manchester United manager praised hospital staff and well-wishers, saying: ‘Believe me, without those people who gave me such great care, I would not be sitting here today. It’s made me feel so humble.’ Ferguson, a staunch supporter of the NHS, made his last public appearance on April 29 at Old Trafford when he presented outgoing Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger with a commemorat­ive trophy.
