MOMENT HE TOLD PC: THESE HANDCUFFS ARE TOO TIGHT

-

THIS is the moment Ben Stokes was handcuffed after the street brawl that saw him knock out two men.

Jurors were shown footage from PC Stacey Alway’s bodycam of the cricketer being quizzed as he sat in the back of a squad car.

The officer can be heard telling Stokes: ‘A guy over there was covered in blood and I’ve been told you punched him.’

Stokes replies: ‘Because he was abusing my two friends for being gay. Have those two other guys gone? What about two other lads – gay guys?’

When the officer tells Stokes’s England teammate Alex Hales to leave, Stokes mouths words at Mr Hales. Yesterday, he told the court he was saying ‘it’s on me’, encouraging his friend to leave.

Stokes can also be heard complaining that his handcuffs are too tight, saying he had undergone three operations on his right wrist and asking PC Alway: ‘Sorry, do you mind just loosening that right one on my wrist?’

He says ‘thanks’ when she does, before asking if she can loosen it ‘a little bit more’.
