Travellers in THIRD Surrey camp move

TRAVELLERS who set up temporary camps in Surrey have moved for a third time – to a recreation ground six miles from their last camp, popular among locals for its children’s playpark and football pitch.

More than 50 caravans arrived in Ashtead yesterday after the travellers were moved from Cobham to Thames Ditton. The group left Long Ditton Recreation Ground on Wednesday afternoon, before the local council was due to receive an eviction order. They were evicted from Cobham last week.

Mole Ditton District Council is now seeking a court order to evict the travellers from Ashtead Recreation Ground.
