One of the toughest cookies in Hollywood

KATHLEEN TURNER gave a delicious, no-holds-barred interview this week. The 64-yearold said Elizabeth Taylor was a terrible actress and that Nicolas Cage nearly ruined a film they were in with his over-the-top theatrics.

‘Listen, I made it work, honey,’ she told New York Magazine. She never took nonsense from men, once slapped an actor who bit her in a love scene and shuddered at Donald Trump’s ‘ gross’ handshake. She shrugged off a sexist contest between Michael Douglas, Jack Nicholson and Warren Beatty to see who’d sleep with her first. ‘None of them did, by the by,’ she said.

I like the story of Kathleen (above) alone at a New York restaurant bar. The man next to her moved away. ‘Would you watch my drink for a minute?’ he asked. She fixed him with a glare and said, in her amazing raspy voice: ‘No.’ She might not be a Dame, but she’s a dame all the same.
