Pressure on the NHS
IN A TV discussion to mark the 70th anniversary of the NHS, one expert said our health service is the envy of the world while another claimed it can’t carry on financially.
In my opinion, the only thing wrong with the NHS is that it has too many patients. The same problem is facing the education system (too many pupils), the prison service (too many prisoners), the road network (too many vehicles), the police force (too many criminals) and the rail network (too many passengers).
But the only solution politicians can offer is to demand more money to build another runway at Heathrow, bulldoze our wonderful countryside and add extra lanes to motorways.
Tarmacking the whole country is not the answer.
