Call me two sheds Dave!
Cameron buys a second £25,000 shepherd’s hut for holiday home
IN terms of cachet, what could be better than owning an oh-so-trendy shepherd’s hut? The answer, it seems, is owning two of the things.
Having developed a passion for the £25,000 sheds after installing one in the garden of his Cotswolds home last year, David Cameron has splashed out on another for his bolthole in Cornwall.
The hand-made structure is currently sitting at the side of the £2million holiday home the former prime minister is having renovated.
It is not known what specification Mr Cameron, 51, went for with the new hut but it appears identical to the ‘jolly nice-looking’ model he bought as a retreat in which to write his memoirs.
He told the Mail that ‘writing is proving to be very hard work – harder than I anticipated’. But he added: ‘The shed is proving to be immensely helpful – no regrets.’
Mr Cameron, who stood down as prime minister in 2016 after the EU referendum, admitted he had to battle it out with his children, who wanted to use it as a Wendy house.
The huts, on black wheels, are made by Paul Bennett of Red Sky Shepherd’s Huts.
Prices start from £20,000 and rise to £25,000 before optional extras such as stoves, kitchenettes, bathrooms and French doors are added. Mr Cameron has a wood-burning stove in his Cotswold hut.
Mr Bennett declined to comment on Mr Cameron’s latest purchase.
