Baby born by M25 after coach crash that injured more than 40
A BABY boy was born yesterday at the scene of a coach crash that injured more than 40.
Seven children were among those hurt when the coach dramatically overturned on the M25.
Three people were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The coach was travelling on the anti-clockwise carriageway when it was involved in a collision and ended up on its side on a bank several feet above road level.
Kent Police tweeted: ‘Proud to see all emergency services working so effectively together.
‘And just to make things interesting a baby boy was born at scene.’
As a result of the crash, near Swanley in Kent, two lanes were closed along with the slip road to junction three.
Yesterday evening drivers faced delays of around an hour and a half, with queues stretching back at least five miles, according to Highways England.
Police, paramedics and the fire service were called just before 4pm.
South East Coast Ambulance Service said it treated 41 people, including seven children with minor injuries. While 31 adults sustained minor injuries, three patients were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
They were taken to Princess Royal University Hospital near Farnborough in Kent. The hospital declared a major incident alert after the collision.
The coach is believed to be owned by Greens of London. A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said that three fire engines and several vehicles from the heavy rescue team were sent out.
