Expect more fly-on-wall shows

-

ONE thing I will be watching over the course of the next week is Manchester City’s fly-on-the-wall documentary, All or

Nothing. I’ve seen all the trailers and I am intrigued to see what life is really like under Pep Guardiola with the methods he uses. I’m sure supporters are fascinated to see what it is like inside a dressing room but I can see a point in the future where TV cameras will become a fixture in there after games. It is commonplace for American media to go ‘to the locker room’ after the final whistle and I believe it will happen here. These American companies such as Amazon, who will screen Premier League games next season, and Facebook will expect certain things for the huge sums they are investing and players will need to be aware of this. We have benefited from the explosion of TV revenue and we are well paid. The increases we have received have nothing to do with the shirt sales and gate receipts, it is all down to the investment companies such as Sky and BT have made. You always have to make sure you do interviews. I’ll admit to being part of the old generation and I’d find the concept of TV cameras being in the dressing room after games bizarre. I have seen so many things happen inside those four walls, things that have never emerged. The dressing room was always our safe haven. There is going to be a point, however, when the doors are going to open. Whether it is Sky or Amazon or whoever, when they make such huge commitments they will look for different ways to freshen up their coverage. Coming into the dressing room could be the way they do it.
