Slimline Renee leaves Bridget in the shade
AS the wine-glugging singleton Bridget Jones, she loved nothing more than a bar of chocolate or a bowl – or two – of ice cream.
But Renee Zellweger was worlds away from her chubby British alter-ego as she was pictured leaving a Los Angeles restaurant.
The 49-year-old American actress looked slender in a grey jumper and distressed blue jeans, teamed with a red baseball cap and boots.
When she played the title role in Bridget Jones’s Diary in 2001 and its 2004 sequel she had to add four stone to her size 8 frame. An avid runner, she gave up exercise and consumed 3,800 calories a day – the recommended limit for a woman is 2,000.
When the Oscar-winner returned to the role in Bridget Jones’s Baby in 2016 she did not have to endure the regime all over again because the character had achieved her ideal weight. As, it seems, has Miss Zellweger herself.
