The prams that outshine TV’s Midwife stars

- SUE GREEN, Rugby, Warks.

IT WAS lovely to see the article ‘The joy of pushing a grandchild in your own baby’s old pram’ (Femail). I am a member of a vintage pram group and people love to stop us and reminisce about their own long-gone coach-built prams. The Call The Midwife cast joined us to raise money for the cystic fibrosis charity in a fun pram push. CHRISTINE HORNE, Longfield, Kent. IN 1974, my parents bought my son a Silver Cross pram for £47. Once he was too big for the pram, it was smothered in chrome polish, wrapped and stored in my parents’ loft. In 1989, my husband’s cousin came back from Adelaide for a family visit to find a proper pram for her oldest daughter, who was expecting her first baby. In due course, the pram went to Australia and was used for five more babies. The baby for whom the pram originally went to Australia is getting married next week and his mother is determined that the pram, still in pristine condition, will be used for a third generation of babies.
