WHITE WINE

Roc de Belame Sauvignon Blanc 2017, £10.50, Harvey Nichols IF YOU love a sprightly Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, this is for you. It’s from Gascony in France and is one of six wines in Harvey Nichols’ Wine Concierge September Edit.

FOOD PAIRING: Salty crisps.

RED WINE

Secret Cellar Shiraz Grenache, £7.79, Waitrose A SPICY blend of Shiraz and Grenache grapes from South Africa’s Western Cape vineyards, this is the kind of wine made for autumn evenings. There’s a whiff of summer pudding, thanks to the Grenache, but the Shiraz adds a hit of bramble fruit.

FOOD PAIRING: Steak and chips.

SPARKLING WINE

Tesco Finest Premier Cru Champagne Brut NV, £15.20 THIS one’s on proper sparkling form. Made from a blend of two of the three Champagne grapes — Chardonnay and Pinot Noir — it’s given extra time to mellow in the bottle hence the rich, nutty flavours.

FOOD PAIRING: Parmesan biscuits.
