Pogba cranks up exit talk
PAUL POGBA has given the strongest indication yet that his future lies away from Manchester United.
The midfielder’s agent, Mino Raiola, angled for a move to Barcelona in the summer and held talks with the Catalan giants.
Pogba’s relationship with manager Jose Mourinho has become fractured, with the player yesterday suggesting a departure from Old Trafford could be on the horizon.
‘There was a lot of talk, but I’m under contract in Manchester,’ Pogba told Sky Sports Germany. ‘My future is currently in Manchester, I still have a contract, I’m playing there at the moment, but who knows what will happen in the next few months.’
Pogba, who admitted to not having the right attitude after a shock defeat by Brighton last month, has told team-mates he wants to leave, but United insist the 25-year- old is not for sale. What may worry United chiefs, however, was Pogba’s response to questions about Mourinho.
‘We have a pure coach-player relationship, that’s right,’ he nodded when asked if there was any tension between the pair. ‘One thing I will always give is 100 per cent, no matter which coach — I cannot say more.’
Pogba claimed last month he would be fined if he spoke about his situation at United.
Barcelona added fuel to the fire yesterday, with vice-president Jordi Mestre describing Pogba as a ‘player of unquestionable quality in the eyes of all the world’.
