Hope for House of Fraser shoppers

- a.murray@dailymail.co.uk

HOUSE of Fraser customers with gift cards recently rendered worthless are starting to receive replacements.

Those who followed the shop’s instructions and returned their cards after the firm went into administration in August had been left in limbo. But since being bought by Sports Direct, it has reportedly started posting out e-vouchers which can be used on the House of Fraser website, according to moneysavingexpert.

com. Letters say these must be redeemed by January 31.

Those who have yet to return their gift cards in exchange for these vouchers have until October 31 to do so, according to one letter.

Make a note of your gift card details or take a photograph before you send it. Include your name and return address in the letter, and it would be wise to send it via recorded delivery.

Adam French, consumer rights expert at Which?, says: ‘Be sure to spend the vouchers quickly as we do not know what might happen next.’

Sports Direct refused to confirm whether it would be issuing replacement gift vouchers in all cases, or confirm the January 31 deadlines for using them.

A spokesman says: ‘ Sports Direct has no liability to customers in possession of existing gift cards and vouchers.

‘However, we encourage these customers to send them into the House of Fraser Customer Services at 3/1 granite House, 31 Stockwell Street, glasgow g1 4RZ, whereby replacements will be issued.’
