KNACKERED MOTHERS’ WINE CLUB
BARGAIN OF THE WEEK
Tesco Finest Yarra Valley Pinot Noir, £8 (normally £11) THE relatively cool climate of the Yarra Valley in South Australia suits the Pinot Noir grape to a tee (it doesn’t like the heat). This one’s velvet soft with glorious black cherry fruit flavours.
WHITE WINE
Paul Mas Viognier/Sauvignon Blanc 2017, £8.99, Waitrose THIS blend puts the peachy Viognier grape with the citrusy Sauvignon Blanc grape. The result is refreshingly different, aromatic with punchy tropical fruit flavours.
FOOD PAIRING: Roast chicken.
RED WINE
Taste The Difference Barbera d’Asti 2016, £7.50, Sainsbury’s FROM the Piedmont region in northern Italy, the glorious Barbera grape is behind some of the best value wine to be found in the area. Typically deep in colour with lots of earthy black fruit flavours, this one’s a proper autumnal red.
FOOD PAIRING: Beef stew.
ROSé WINE
El Viaje de Ramón Rose 2017, £8, Co-op THIS pale pink Spanish rosé wouldn’t look out of place next to the pale pink rosés of Provence. Made from the Garnacha grape, it’s surprisingly subtle in flavour, too, with lovely redcurrant fruits.
FOOD PAIRING: Grilled salmon.
