WHAT HAS HE GOT?

A NEWCOMER in the Portsmouth ranks from Derry City, this young player has been a major contributor this season as Kenny Jackett’s team have improved. Watching Curtis (below) closely in a recent game, he was selected to play wide on the left up front. He is a right-footed player, around 6ft, who showed a determination to go at the full-back. A decent runner, he has an easy stride but does not look electric. He seems more suited to a central role, where his enthusiasm and desire to run the channels may give centre backs a problem. It was noticeable that he wore gloves on what was a reasonably warm evening. That surprised me. But he caught my eye more with his drive. Working hard when he received the ball, he cut inside but needed other players to work combinations with him. It was a scrappy game with little rhythm, but he showed determination to look for goalscoring chances.
