WHAT DOES HE NEED?
A couple of times I thought he lost concentration when possession was conceded and he was slow to track back. He did not seem a natural dribbler, but his control was OK when he shielded the ball coming across his full-back. When a high punt was delivered downfield, he drifted inside and comfortably outjumped his full-back to flick the ball forwards, another pointer to a more central role. In the second half he accurately chipped a left-footer from the byline, showing that with practice he could use that foot more. He looks a work in progress, adjusting to the hurly-burly nature of somewhat frenetic League One football. As Portsmouth continue their bid to return to the Championship — Curtis has six goals so far — it will be fascinating to see if he can improve his raw qualities.
