I must boost squad, says Poch

MAURICIO POCHETTINO wants to freshen up Tottenham’s squad but has vowed not to make signings for the sake of it in January. Tottenham were the only Premier League club not to recruit in the summer, but chairman Daniel Levy told fans at the club’s Supporters’ Trust last week that was not a result of building Spurs’ new £850million stadium. ‘One thing to make clear,’ said Pochettino, ‘all the

coaching staff always want to improve the squad. ‘Every six months you need to change the dynamic in the dressing room. ‘We tried to sign players but we could not achieve what we wanted.’ Pochettino added: ‘It is easy to say we are going to sign three players and the people are happy because we signed them.

‘If you need to sign to make people happy, that is not common sense.’ Pochettino’s squad will be bolstered tomorrow by Christian Eriksen and Mousa Dembele, who are fit to face West Ham.
