CARROLL’S ON WAY BACK BUT WILSHERE SUFFERS MORE WOE

- By KIERAN GILL

ANDY CARROLL is set to join full first-team training at West Ham within the next two weeks. The 29-year-old striker has not appeared this season after suffering a recurrence of an ankle problem which required surgery. Yet he has started to take part in training and manager Manuel Pellegrini wants him taking part in full sessions by next month. West Ham face Tottenham tomorrow and Marko Arnautovic will lead the line after returning from the international break with Austria unscathed. There was not such good news yesterday about midfielder Jack Wilshere, who has suffered a setback after feeling pain in his ankle over the last 48 hours. The club are confident it isn’t serious. There is no date set for his return, but Pellegrini said: ‘Jack felt some pain in the last two days, so he needs more time to recover.’ Former players Patrice Evra and James Collins have been training with the squad recently. They are doing so to keep fit and no contract offer will follow. ‘Both of them are not considered in the squad this season because those positions in our squad are covered,’ Pellegrini said.
