I hope we’re having a girl, says Harry

... as he urges Meghan to take it easy in Australia

- From Rebecca English

ONLY a week ago it was revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first baby.

And it seems that Prince Harry has already made up his mind about whether he wants a son or daughter.

Greeted by a wellwisher in Sydney, Australia, yesterday who called out: ‘Congratulations, I hope it’s a girl’, Harry laughed and said: ‘So do I!’

The apparently revealing comment came as the prince urged his pregnant wife to take things more slowly on their 16- day Comby monwealth tour which involves 76 engagements.

An exhausted Meghan yesterday pulled out of a morning event in Sydney, with her husband conducting the visit on his own and telling onlookers she was ‘resting at home [as] being pregnant takes its toll’.

The duchess will accompany him on the next leg of their Australian visit to remote Fraser Island, but aides say she will not join him on many, if any, engagements there because of the rough terrain.

It is understood that she will also scale back her programme in Fiji and Tonga later in the week.

Aides stressed last night that Meghan, 37, wasn’t ill, but simply ‘ pacing’ herself. Although she pulled out of an Invictus Games cycling event, she was able to make a further two engagements later in the day including a reception held the Australian prime minister and a sailing competition. A source said: ‘She is not sick, just tired.’

After the pregnancy was revealed courtiers said the couple had no plans to cancel any engagements. But, inevitably, the long distance they have travelled and the jet lag have taken their toll.

Last week Meghan admitted she had been affected by the time difference and was doing yoga at 4.30am to combat her tiredness.

On Saturday night the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games for injured service personnel was delayed by more than an hour by a major storm. It meant the couple did not return to the home of the Governor-General, where they are staying, until around 10.45pm having hoped to be there at 9pm.

Harry then urged his wife to miss their first engagement the following day, which started at 11.25am.

When she turned up later, wearing skinny jeans by Australian brand Outland, a black polo neck, a white £495 L’Agence Brea blazer and her favourite Aquazzura heels, she looked refreshed and chatted enthusiastically with Invictus competitors at the reception.
