LEAGUE TWO THIS WEEKEND
HERO OF THE WEEK
PAUL TISDALE (MK Dons boss): It is really starting to click for Paul Tisdale at MK Dons. They may be a place below his old side Exeter in third in the table, but a 1-0 home win against Northampton was their fourth straight victory.
It was also the fourth time in a row MK Dons had kept a clean sheet. Tisdale’s sides are renowned for being strong at the back but even the manager was impressed with a record of only eight goals conceded in 14 league games this season. ‘You have to enjoy defending,’ he said.
ZEROES OF THE WEEK
NOTTS COUNTY: Kevin Nolan was sacked in August after the Notts County players failed to pull their weight and Harry Kewell experienced something similar at the weekend.
Things appeared to be looking up after three wins on the spin, albeit with two of those coming against teams in the bottom half of the table in Macclesfield and Crewe, but a 4-0 drubbing at Bury should concern Kewell.
His team were 2-0 down after 18 minutes and there was precious little fight or any sign of a comeback.
GOAL OF THE WEEK
JORDAN BOWERY (for Crewe v
Stevenage): Bowery provided the quality that this game lacked. The forward cut inside the Stevenage defence before curling a sensational effort into the far corner.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Darren Way’s explanation for his Yeovil side’s 0-0 home draw with Tranmere was bizarre. ‘ The players are frustrated because teams come here looking to delay our counterattacks,’ Way said. Try getting on the front foot then, Darren.
