QATAR’S World Cup was founded on lies, so it is no surprise they keep coming. It was initially estimated 6,000 hotel rooms would need to be sited on cruise ships — 12,000 tops. Local organisers now put that figure at 20,000. Who would have thought hosting a World Cup in an area one 11th the size of New York might lead to an accommodat­ion shortage? Oh, that’s right.
