Wrap up – it could snow in days!

-

IT’S finally time to dig out that woolly hat – as the first snow of the season could fall in the next few days.

Arctic air is set to move over Britain by the end of the week, bringing biting northerly winds.

Forecasters say a dusting of snow could fall as far south as the Peak District and Welsh mountains on Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile overnight frosts are likely even in the South.

However most of England and Wales is still due to enjoy mild sunshine today, with temperatures up to 18C (64F) in the South and 17C (6 F) in the North.

A Met Office spokesman said: ‘Due to high pressure, the air flow is changing. We could see some snow on high ground.’
