Police find his belongings in abandoned consulate car

-

POLICE have found three suitcases in a Saudi diplomatic car which contained personal belongings of Jamal Khashoggi, a TV channel claimed yesterday.

A Saudi team had been accompanying Turkish investigators as they carried out the search in a car park where the vehicle was found.

CNN Turk reported that investigators found a computer and documents in the car, which were said to belong to Mr Khashoggi. According to a car park employee, a Saudi consulate attaché unloaded the suitcases from the car, put them in his vehicle and drove away.

The employee said he asked the attaché jokingly: ‘Khashoggi’s body is not inside the suitcases, is it?’

He said the attaché laughed and answered ‘no’. It was claimed that Saudi Arabia had originally prevented a police search of the abandoned car because it had a diplomatic licence plate.
