METRO BANK is hiking the cost of spending abroad from January 10. Holidaymakers travelling outside Europe will have to pay a 2.99 pc charge when paying by debit card or withdrawing cash, instead of 2.75 pc. It means that a £300 payment will cost £308.97 instead of £308.25. A £300 ATM withdrawal will cost £310.47 as there is an additional £1.50 fee.
