Victims of evil

HOME Secretary Sajid Javid has missed the wider point with his comments about Asian paedophiles.

Organised grooming and child-rape gangs have included men of Somali, Kurdish and Pakistani cultural backgrounds. Similar gangs in Holland have been of Turkish and Moroccan origin. So it is incorrect to tar anyone of Asian origin in this way.

The common factor in all of these cases is that the victims were working- class white girls with troubled home lives.

The protections afforded to many other sections of society by social services and the police were missing.

Was the racist targeting of the victims considered during sentencing, as would have been the case with assaults against members of any ethnic minority?
