Dortmund may snatch Foden for only £175k

BORUSSIA DORTMUND are leading the European pursuit of Manchester City teenage midfielder Phil Foden. He would be guaranteed first-team football in Germany — something difficult to match in Pep Guardiola’s City squad. Dortmund, who have already secured the services of former City teenager Jadon Sancho, are ‘very, very interested’ in Foden, according to a source, and sense a chance to sign him for a development fee which could be as low as £175,000. The player and his representatives are keen to resolve contract talks which have now started with City. Foden, who has 18 months left on his deal, has been on the field for just 20 minutes since starting City’s Carabao Cup tie at Oxford United in September. The 18-year-old’s latest chance comes in the same competition at home to struggling Fulham tonight. Opposition boss Slavisa Jokanovic has made his players watch video nasties of their mistakes in preparation for the clash between the worst defence in the Premier League and the best attack. ‘Our mistakes are always really expensive,’ said Jokanovic, who has not seen his team keep a clean sheet in any competition since a 2-0 win over Exeter City in August. ‘Before the second goal (in their 3-0 home defeat by Bournemouth last Saturday), there are so many confused decisions my players take. We must switch on. ‘We regain the ball, lose the ball, regain the ball in one picture. ‘This kind of situation is really costly for us. This is not tennis. We must be able to fix the problem. We are talking about individual mistakes. Definitely, individually, we need to improve ourselves.’
