Terrier Holly is looking for her own special someone

-

THE Canine Care Card is a free service that gives you peace of mind, knowing that Dogs Trust will care for your dog/s if you pass away before they do.

Holly is an 11-year-old terrier cross who has sadly found herself without a home after her owner passed away.

This gorgeous girl was obviously much loved as her owner had made sure she had a Canine Care Card so that Holly would be looked after if they were to pass away.

Holly is benefiting from being in one of Dogs Trust Leeds’ foster homes, so that she can still enjoy all her home comforts while she waits for her very own special someone to come along.

She is looking for a retirement home where she can rest her paws and she would love her owners to be around most of the time while she settles in, as she loves human company.

Holly is still quite active for an older lady and gets very excited when it’s time for a walk.

She also loves playing with her toys in the garden and is a lot of fun, but thoroughly enjoys cuddling up on the sofa, too. Holly could live with older children and could potentially live with another quiet canine companion.

If you pass away and have a Canine Care Card, the charity will arrange to bring your dog/s to its nearest rehoming centre. On arrival they will be examined by an expert vet and cared for by dedicated, trained staff.

They will find your dog/s new owners whose lifestyle and experience match their needs.

But if for any reason your dog/s cannot be rehomed, Dogs Trust never puts down a healthy dog, so will look after them for the rest of their lives.

The charity says: ‘We treat every one of our canine residents like a beloved family pet and ensure they get all the loving care they need in our state-of-the-art facilities.’

The handy, wallet- sized card acts in a similar way to an organ donor card and notifies people of your wishes for your dog/s, should anything happen to you.

You should also mention the care of your dog/s in your will. That way, there can be no confusion about your wishes.
