Gove: No-deal will hurt us
MICHAEL Gove yesterday warned a ‘no-deal’ Brexit would cause economic turbulence and ‘hurt’.
The Environment Secretary also accused Remainers demanding a second referendum of thinking Brexiteers were ‘thick’ and ‘prejudiced’.
Mr Gove told the BBC that leaving without a deal would result in economic ‘turbulence’ and ‘trouble for the economy’. He distanced himself from the warnings of a no- deal economic meltdown set out by the Bank of England and Treasury this week.
But he said a no deal was ‘clearly going to cause hurt’, adding: ‘I do not want that to happen.’
He said holding a second referendum would ‘undermine faith in our democracy’, adding: ‘People knew they were voting to leave the EU and we should honour that.’
