Expat missing after night out in Spain
A SEARCH was under way on Tenerife last night for a British animal trainer who vanished on a night out.
Amy Louise Gerard, 28, was last seen outside an Irish bar in Puerto de la Cruz, in the north of the island, in the early hours of Friday.
Spanish authorities have appealed for information on her whereabouts, while friends and loved ones have described her disappearance as totally out of character.
Miss Gerard, from Grimsby, Lincolnshire, is a killer whale trainer at a zoo in Tenerife and lives in Puerto de la Cruz.
Friend Laura Mumby said: ‘We are all very concerned. This is so out of character.’ Another said: ‘This is not like Amy to go missing. We just want her home safe now.’
It is thought Miss Gerard was with a female friend around the time she went missing. Her mother Julie and sister Chloe yesterday flew to Tenerife to aid the search.
