What’s missing when you buy a new tablet?

-

TABLETS — devices that can do everything from browsing the web to making video calls — can be great. But when you buy one, there’s often something missing: a proper manual. Manufacturers seem to assume that you’ll know how to use it, as if by magic. It’s ‘intuitive’, they say. Well it can be, in parts. But there are things you simply need to know how to do. Who would think you had to use two fingers and pull them apart on the screen to zoom in, or that they’d bury the option you want behind three little dots? Most of us won’t just know things like that — someone has to explain. That’s where a recently updated guide comes in, with versions for iPads and Androids. These books have proved hugely popular with all sorts of people who have a tablet — but who aren’t expert at using it. Whether you’re frustrated with the very basics, want to know what else it can do for you or wish you knew how to do some of the slightly fancier things, this book might be just what you need. It explains everything simply, in plain English, without the usual confusing jargon and gobbledegook. And it has lots of pictures showing exactly what to do — where to tap the screen and so on. The author (Tim Wakeling) started writing guides after making notes to help his mum and dad use their PC and realising other people might find them helpful, too. Find out more by ordering a free information pack explaining what’s covered.
