Joy of seven for Rodgers
BRENDAN RODGERS says his third League Cup triumph is the most satisfying of the seven successive domestic trophies he has won since becoming Celtic manager in 2016. Ryan Christie, who spent 18 months on loan at Aberdeen, scored the winner in first-half added time at Hampden Park. Celtic missed the chance to go further ahead when Scott Sinclair’s penalty was brilliantly saved by Joe Lewis. Rodgers said: ‘Probably of all the trophies that we’ve won, this is the most satisfying because it wasn’t an easy start to the season for us. The players deserve a huge amount of credit because they have been amazing since I’ve come in.’
