Wagner on warpath as Mounie red kills hopes

- JACK GAUGHAN at the John Smith’s Stadium

AN INCENSED David Wagner is deliberating whether to appeal against Steve Mounie’s red card. The Huddersfield striker was dismissed after scraping the shin of Yves Bissouma, and Wagner was irate at referee Michael Oliver for that and the denial of a first-half penalty, claiming ‘football is no fun’ after Brighton left with all three points. Huddersfield have until 1pm today to appeal. Otherwise Mounie faces a threematch ban. The FA will also decide whether Wagner went too far in his criticism of Oliver. ‘I don’t think he did his best,’ the German said. ‘I don’t like to be disrespectful but I won’t discuss anything apart from the referee’s decisions.’ Brighton boss Chris Hughton believes his side must improve. Victory here was only their second on the road in 21 matches. ‘Am I happy? Yes,’ he said. ‘Do I think we can play better? Yes.’ HUDDERSFIELD TOWN (3-5-1-1): Lossl 7; Jorgensen 6, Schindler 6.5, Kongolo 6; Hadergjonaj 7.5, Billing 7, Hogg 6 (Williams 77min), Mooy 7 (Smith 63, 6), Durm 6; Pritchard 7 (Depoitre 49); Mounie 5.
