Don’t test us, MI6 boss warns Russia
THE head of MI6 will today warn Russia and others ‘intent on subverting our way of life’ not to underestimate Britain.
In a rare public speech, Alex Younger will say agencies are developing a new type of espionage which takes into account rising cyber threats. The head of the foreign intelligence service will issue a stern warning to potential foreign enemies not to test ‘our determination and our capabilities’.
The talk, to students at St Andrews University, his alma mater, is only the second Mr Younger has given in public during his four years in the post. He will invite new recruits, saying MI6 needs diversity. Mr Younger will also say that Britain’s response to the Salisbury nerve agent attack, including the mass expulsion of Russian diplomats, was designed to attach a cost to ‘malign behaviour’.
