Fake medic’s 9 probes

A FAKE psychiatrist who worked in the NHS for 22 years was investigated nine times by medical authorities without being exposed, it has emerged.

Zholia Alemi, 55, used a forged degree certificate to get on the medical register in 1995 when she arrived from New Zealand. Her deceit continued until she was arrested for trying to con a former patient, a widow with dementia, out of £1.3million.

Alemi, now serving a five-year jail term, was first reported to the General Medical Council in 1998.

Subsequent complaints included prescribing inappropriate drugs.

The GMC said: ‘We investigated nine complaints and in the majority we took action to address the issues raised.’
