MERETE Cox, the wife of Hays’ boss Alistair Cox,

at left, has made more than £1.7m from selling shares in the recruitment firm.

She sold 1.1m shares on November 30 for £1.57 apiece. Her husband, 57, still owns 3.9m shares worth £6.1m. The couple, who have two sons, reassured investors they weren’t turning negative on the company – the sale was part of a plan to diversify some of their investments beyond Hays.
