ROY CALLS FOR CALM
ROY HODGSON has urged Crystal Palace and Brighton fans not to bring further embarrassment on English football tonight. A banana skin was thrown at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during Arsenal’s win over Tottenham and coins were hurled during the Merseyside derby at the weekend. ‘I don’t know who can stand in front of journalists speaking publicly and do anything other than condemn the behaviour of fans who do those types of things,’ Hodgson said yesterday. Last year’s ‘M23 Derby’ at the Amex was overshadowed by crowd trouble, with two stewards hospitalised and six supporters arrested. Sussex Police have promised a heavy presence in Brighton tonight. ‘I’m expecting our fans to behave well and I’m expecting the Brighton fans to behave well. Unfortunately there are always going to be instances where some people don’t.’
