Lost Briton: Body found
THE search for a British marine expert missing in Tenerife ended yesterday when a woman’s body was recovered from the sea.
Amy Gerard, 28, vanished in the early hours of Friday after a night out with friends. Her family had travelled to the island to help in the search for her.
A body was spotted by a helicopter crew yesterday and taken to shore. It was close to the spot in the city of Puerto de la Cruz where she disappeared.
The authorities expect formal identification to take some time, but the search for Miss Gerard, from Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, was immediately suspended.
Spanish police have said there was no evidence of foul play.
