- By MARCUS TOWNEND Racing Correspondent

LEGENDARY jockey Lester Piggott was last night reported to be in ‘good shape’ by his daughter Maureen Haggas after being admitted to hospital in London over the weekend. Haggas said her 83-year-old father was expected to remain in hospital for the next few days while doctors monitored his condition. Piggott, who has suffered from heart problems in the past, won the Derby nine times and about 5,300 races worldwide. Haggas, wife of Newmarket trainer William, said: ‘He’ll be in for a few more days. He was taken in as a precautionary measure, but he’s in good shape and was downloading the Racing Post on his iPad when I left.’
