Couple jailed for ‘brutal’ death of newborn baby

- Daily Mail Reporter

A MOTHER who treated her baby as a ‘fashion accessory’ and cried ‘crocodile tears’ after his brutal death aged just three weeks has been jailed for 10 years, along with her ex-partner.

Roxanne Davis, 30, of Gosport, Hampshire, and Samuel Davies, 24, of Southampton, were convicted of causing or allowing the death of 24day-old Stanley Davis.

He died of a skull fracture and brain haemorrhage on March 28, 2017. He also had 32 fractures to his ribs and nine fractures to his arms and legs, sustained during at least three incidents. Judge Jane Miller QC said Stanley suffered a ‘brutal’ attack in which he was violently shaken and could have been thrown across a room.

She accused Davis, who sobbed in the dock as she was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court, of shedding ‘self-serving crocodile tears’.

She said: ‘Your upset was more about you rather than Stanley. You were delighted to show him off to family and friends, but when you were back at home and he wasn’t a fashion accessory, you were happy to hand him over to your partner.’
