Look out, it’s new rail timetable day

-

RAIL passengers are braced for fresh disruption this morning following the launch of the latest new timetable.

The last time major changes were made, in May, thousands of services were delayed or cancelled.

Network bosses stressed they had planned fewer changes this time, but warned there could still be ‘pockets of disruption’. The winter timetable was launched yesterday without incident, but today is its first weekday use by millions of commuters.

The biggest changes are on Thameslink and Great Northern, which will see 200 extra weekday services.

But Northern, which was one of those worst hit in May and which has had up to 10 per cent of its trains out of action in recent weeks, admitted problems on its services could last ‘until at least next May’.
