What a Wizzard ending!
HE wished it could be Christmas every day and Wizzard frontman Roy Wood received an unexpected early present when fans helped find his stolen music equipment.
The 70s glam rock star was forced to abandon a ‘rockmas’ concert when a thief took his van with three vintage Fender guitars, a £120,000 sound system and other equipment inside.
But an appeal hotline was launched and, after thousands of fans shared details, the 72-yearold’s van was located abandoned hours later by a dog walker who recognised its number plate.
‘Roy is really, really pleased to have got everything back,’ said Bob Collinson, a sound engineer who toured with Wood.
Wizzard’s song I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day was a hit in 1973 and is still a regular on radio playlists in the festive season.
