What a self less gift

WHILE millions enjoyed Christmas Day at home, tucking into turkey with loved ones, many volunteers relinquished their family time to work selflessly in our hospitals.

Incredibly, almost 27,000 readers have signed up to our campaign for NHS helpers, pledging 1.5million hours to comfort sick and injured patients.

Their small acts of kindness – delivering meals and medicines, or just offering a hand of friendship – make the world of difference to people’s lives, especially during the festive season.
