Woman in suicide as lover killed by pizza car
A DISTRAUGHT British woman took her life hours after her boyfriend was run over and killed by a pizza delivery car in Australia.
Alice Robinson, 30, could ‘not bear to live’ without Jason Francis, said her mother Dawn.
Mr Francis, 29, also British, was hit outside his home in Perth last Saturday evening and died in hospital with Miss Robinson at his side. She was found dead the next day. The couple, originally from Bridgnorth, Shropshire, had been together for eight years. They moved to Western Australia a year ago after travelling the world.
Dawn Robinson, 58, said on Facebook: ‘I am devastated to let everyone know that my beautiful daughter was so distraught she could not bear to live without her beloved Jase and chose to take her own life.
‘My husband and I now grieve for the loss of two wonderful people that brought light to everyone’s life. RIP my gorgeous girlie.’
Mr Francis, who had spent the day drinking with friends, was believed to be lying in the road when he was hit by the Domino’s pizza delivery car.
Neighbour Matt Pilat, 33, said he heard a ‘big bang’ before going outside to investigate. He performed CPR on Mr Francis with the help of the pizza delivery driver, 18. He added: ‘Two ambulances arrived and the paramedics used the defibrillators on him twice.’
Miss Robinson was thought to be at home at the time. Police said they were not treating her later death as suspicious. No arrests have been made in relation to the crash.
Mr Francis, a former RAF fireman, was described as a ‘beautiful soul’. He had played football for Market Drayton Town and rugby for Bridgnorth. A crowdfunding page set up to help bring the bodies back to the UK had raised £15,000 last night.
