Boy, 11, killed in hit-and-run

An 11-year-old boy was killed in a hi­tand-run after be­ing knocked off his bi­cy­cle.

Tay­lor Schofield was struck near Manch­ester City’s Eti­had Sta­dium on Satur­day evening.

Mo­torist Ay­isha Gran­di­son, 33, said the car was speed­ing be­fore it hit the young­ster, send­ing him fly­ing and his bi­cy­cle wheel spin­ning ‘like a tum­ble­weed’ across the road.

Tay­lor’s fam­ily paid trib­ute to their ‘bright and car­ing kid,’ with his brother Matthew Koss call­ing him ‘proper cheeky’ in a post on Face­book.

A 31-year- old man handed him­self in and was ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of caus­ing death by dan­ger­ous driv­ing. A grey Vw Golf was found aban­doned near the scene. The man re­mained in cus­tody last night.
