Boy, 11, killed in hit-and-run

An 11-year-old boy was killed in a hitand-run after being knocked off his bicycle.

Taylor Schofield was struck near Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.

Motorist Ayisha Grandison, 33, said the car was speeding before it hit the youngster, sending him flying and his bicycle wheel spinning ‘like a tumbleweed’ across the road.

Taylor’s family paid tribute to their ‘bright and caring kid,’ with his brother Matthew Koss calling him ‘proper cheeky’ in a post on Facebook.

A 31-year- old man handed himself in and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. A grey Vw Golf was found abandoned near the scene. The man remained in custody last night.
