CARDIFF ‘ONLY WANT FIGHTERS’

- JOE BERNSTEIN

Cardiff captain Sean Morrison has welcomed the club’s desire to sign three players in January but warned that new arrivals must have the right character for a relegation dogfight. City chairman Mehmet dalman has promised Neil Warnock a new right back, midfielder and striker this month with the manager wanting at least a couple in the door before next weekend’s six-pointer at Newcastle. But influential defender Morrison said: ‘We need to bring in players who want to play for the shirt and the fans. Simple as that. if they don’t want to come in and be in a dogfight and fight for every point, it won’t work.’ The key moment in Saturday’s draw with Huddersfield came after 77 minutes when referee Lee Mason awarded Huddersfield a penalty for Joe Bennett’s tangle with florent Hadergjonaj but then changed his mind after consulting with his assistant. david Wagner’s side are bottom with only 11 points but goal-keeeper Jonas Lossl believed they looked better than Cardiff, who are eight points ahead. ‘We deserved to win the game and i just hope we are above three teams in the end,’ he said. ‘i believe it can happen.’
