JONES: PUT YOUR TRUST IN ME

- HARRY SLAVIN

NATHAN JONES will ask his senior Stoke players to show a little faith in his bid to turn round their fortunes. The devout Christian has made the leap from League One Luton to the Championship but made an inauspicious start as Stoke were humbled at Brentford. His 4-3-1-2 formation showed courage but little else and Jones knows making allies is key. ‘The senior players are important in a dressing room. Only your work and how you affect them can win their trust,’ he said. Ryan Shawcross’ own goal and a Said Benrahma strike saw the Bees race into a 2-0 lead. Benik Afobe hit back but Rico Henry sealed the win.
