DAYTIME FAVOURITE Boon, 3.20pm, Drama

MICHAEL ELPHICK is the firemantur­ned-general-troublesho­oter in this easy-going ITV drama, which ran for 93 episodes from 1986 to 1995 and begins a weekday repeat from the start here. Boon is a capable, likeable sort, an underdog who stands up for himself — and absolutely loves westerns.

CHILDREN’S CHOICE Almost Never, 5pm, CBBC

WHAT happens to boy and girl bands after a TV talent contest ends? That’s the story CBBC’s funny new drama is interested in telling. It’s frothy stuff, with a fun turn from Kimberly Wyatt as a ruthless music industry figure, plus I’m A Celebrity runner-up Emily Atack as a mum who tries to help where she can.

ANIMATED FUN Trolls,, 7pm,p, CBBC

THE popular range of ugly shock-haired toys are given an animated makeover by DreamWorks, the home of Shrek. Anna Kendrick voices glitter bomb party princess Poppy (pictured), who teams up with a colourless grump called Branch to rescue fellow trolls from a terrible fate.

LIVE FOOTBALL Blackburn Rovers v Newcastle United, 7.30pm, BT Sport 2

THE winner of this FA Cup thirdround replay at Ewood Park will host Watford in the fourth round. Blackburn, who sit 14th in the Championsh­ip, will fancy their chances tonight as Newcastle will surely be prioritisi­ng Premier League survival now they find themselves in the dreaded bottom three.

TOMORROW’S WORLD? Impossible Engineerin­g, 8pm, Yesterday

IT’S long been a dream of humanity to soar among the clouds, and the jet suit in this new episode feels like a big step towards realising that dream. The Gravity Industries suit uses four micro-jet engines to move at more than 30mph up to 12,000 feet, and looks like a lot of fun for those who dare.

U.S. DRAMA The Passage, 9pm, Fox

THE world is going to hell in this new U.S. drama, and the only way to stop it is a virus that leaves people immune to disease, but crazed for blood. At the centre of this well-plotted tale is a bond between a federal agent (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and a girl (Saniyya Sidney) who could hold the key to making the virus safe.

PRISON BREAK Escape At Dannemora, 9pm, Sky Atlantic

BEN STILLER filmed the outdoor scenes of his prison escape drama at the facility where the break happened — Clinton Correction­al in New York. This adds to the authentic, slow-burning tone of a series that, in part three, finds Tilly (Patricia Arquette, pictured) smuggling materials to the inmates.

MIDLIFE COMEDY Swimming With Men, Netflix

NICELY played British comedy about a man whose spiralling midlife is saved from crisis by synchronis­ed swimming. Rob Brydon, Rupert Graves and Jim Carter lead a film that does a good job of lifting the spirits.

SCI-FI THRILLER Colony, 10pm, Pick

SET in a future Los Angeles, this new-to-Freeview sci-fi thriller describes a City of Angels under strict military control after an event referred to as ‘the arrival’. This hints heavily at alien invaders, though they are never seen, and there’s a lot to take in as family man Will (Lost’s Josh Holloway) discovers the Resistance.
