CHELSEA are prepared to make Callum Hudson-Odoi one of world football’s best-paid teenagers to keep him at the club.

Bayern Munich have made their intention to sign the 18-year- old this month abundantly clear, with the Germans’ latest offer worth in the region of £35million — an incredible fee considering Hudson-Odoi has not started a Premier League game.

The teenager is understood to be keen on a switch to the Bundesliga because he feels Bayern are more likely to give him regular first-team opportunities. But Chelsea are making one last-ditch effort to prevent Hudson-Odoi from leaving this month by offering an eye-watering new contract.

The club are willing to offer Hudson-Odoi a new deal worth a minimum of £50,000 per week, rising to as much as £70,000 per week if he meets certain targets.

Hudson- Odoi, who grew up in Wandsworth, currently earns in the region of £22,000 per week. The deal underlines how determined Chelsea are about keeping their academy star at the club.

Hudson-Odoi comes from a footballing family, his father Bismark played for Ghanian side Hearts of Oak while brother Bradley was once on Fulham’s books.

His father and brother both play a key role in managing his career.

Meanwhile, as Arsenal prepare to host Chelsea tomorrow, manager Unai Emery admits he is pessimistic about the chances of making any signings this month.

But he insisted that the situation has not been hindered by the expected departure of head of recruitment Sven Mislintat.

Emery has previously indicated there would be no funds for permanent arrivals and appeared downbeat at his weekly press briefing about the prospects of landing even one loan signing.

He would not be drawn on the progress of their move for Barcelona’s Denis Suarez, in which Arsenal would look to loan the midfielder ahead of a permanent deal in the summer. Emery said yesterday: ‘This transfer window is not easy to take players that can help us with better performances than the players we have now.’
