‘Raided by military police’

SIXTeen soldiers have been kicked out of the army after holding ‘ cocaine parties’ at two barracks.

The parties were held several days apart by two units in the Royal Logistic Corps. Seven men and one woman from each tested positive for Class a drugs and were booted out.

Sources claimed some may have deliberately taken the drugs to be discharged.

Troops in 9 Regiment RLC first staged a mess party at Buckley Barracks near Chippenham, Wiltshire, last month.

afterwards eight of them went back to their blocks and took Class a drugs, believed to be cocaine. Days later soldiers at 7 Regiment RLC held a similar party 130 miles away at Kendrew Barracks near Cottesmore, Rutland.

eight were found to have taken the drugs. The two parties were not linked.

a source told The Sun: ‘The soldiers had what can only be described as cocaine parties. Military police raided the barracks the next day and found evidence of drug use so the lot got tested. Sixteen failed and were immediately kicked out.’

Under normal circumstances soldiers must wait a year from when they quit until they can leave.

The source suggested some of the troops may have broken the rules on purpose to leave immediately. They added: ‘Why give a year’s notice when you can bang a load of hooter up your nose?’

an MoD spokesman said: ‘The MoD has a zero-tolerance drugs policy and will not tolerate misuse of drugs by service personnel in any form. any personnel caught taking drugs will be discharged.’

In October 2017 the Daily Mail revealed nine British servicemen were kicked off a nuclear submarine after testing positive for cocaine while on duty.

In one of the worst scandals to hit the navy, the crew from HMS Vigilant, which carries Trident, were discharged.

They were alleged to have had drugfuelled parties while docked in the US to pick up nuclear warheads.
