Bafta blocks Queen movie director over assault claims

- By Baz Bamigboye

FILM director Bryan Singer’s Bafta nomination for Bohemian Rhapsody was ‘suspended’ last night over allegations of sexual assault.

The Freddie Mercury biopic has been nominated in the outstanding British film category for Sunday’s awards. Singer’s name had been listed as director and a producer, but it has now been removed. The film itself remains nominated.

The US director has faced claims of sexual misconduct and bullying on set for years. He has always denied them.

There is an active lawsuit against him in Los Angeles claiming that he raped a 17-year-old boy.

Singer was fired from Bohemian Rhapsody in the middle of production and filming was completed by director Dexter Fletcher. Rami
